The war left millions of people in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
ShelterBox gave people thermal blankets, clothing, and emergency repair kits. These items helped people fix damaged roofs, seal windows and doors, keep the heat in and make homes watertight.

The Ukraine war: what would you take?
If war broke out in your hometown and you had to flee your home at a moment’s notice, what item would you take with you?
To mark the first the anniversary of the Ukraine war, friends of ShelterBox Dawn French, Judi Dench, Steve Backshall, Gary Lineker, Ben Zand and Stephen Fry share what they would take.

How did ShelterBox help?
ShelterBox helped more than 130,000 people affected by the war in Ukraine. We supported people displaced within Ukraine, as well as refugees who crossed the border into Moldova.
Much of our attention was on supporting people through the bitter winter months. We reached thousands of people with essential items to help them survive.
People are living in damaged homes without heating or lighting. That’s why we provided thermal clothing, solar lights, water carriers and stoves with our partner, NNLPD.
We also worked with ReliefAid and Green Chernobyl to provide emergency shelter repair kits. These helped people fix damaged roofs, seal windows and doors, keep the heat in and make homes watertight.
